Anthony M. Tarescavage, PhD
Dr. Tarescavage is the owner-operator of Cleveland Psychological Testing. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University in 2015. While a student at Kent State University, Dr. Tarescavage received the Lillian Friedman Fellowship for being the university’s outstanding graduate student in the area of mental health. He also received the Award for Outstanding Student Research in the Field of Police and Public Safety Psychology from Division 18 of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Tarescavage received his doctoral training in forensic assessments, including those involving sanity, criminal competency, mitigation of penalty, substance use, personality disorders, and violence risk assessment. After graduating with his PhD from Kent State University, he taught graduate and undergraduate courses related to statistics, assessment, and forensic psychology. He also supervised the clinical assessments of all graduate students in the Kent State Clinical Psychology program.
Dr. Tarescavage was licensed to practice psychology independently in Ohio in 2017. Since his licensure, he has consulted for four different agencies specializing in different types of forensic assessments, including disability examinations, violence risk assessment, personnel screenings. fitness for duty evaluations, guardianship evaluations, competency to stand trial evaluations, NGRI evaluations, among many others.
Dr. Tarescavage’s research focus includes the use of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-3 (MMPI-3) in criminal forensic settings, civil forensic settings, and personnel screenings. He is co-author of the upcoming Oxford University Press book entitled Using the MMPI-3 in Forensic Assessments. In addition to being a preeminent expert on the MMPI instruments, he is also one of the most widely published researchers in the country in the area of pre-hire screenings of public safety officers.
