MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENT
My interaction style is relaxed, warm, and respectful. Because I am a professor and researcher, my assessments are scientific, evidence-based, and comprehensive.
Is this right for me?
You know SOMETHING is wrong, but you are not sure what it is, why it happened, or how to fix it. You think you probably need help, but it’s hard to know where to start. You worry about being overmedicated or wasting your time. You want to figure out, once and for all, what is going on and how to take care of it. Does this sound familiar? If so, you are my ideal client. Need to know your diagnosis, why it happened, and how to treat it? Let me get it right for you! My name is Dr. Tarescavage. I have spent 95% of my career doing ONLY assessments and have published dozens of peer-reviewed scientific articles on assessment.
Compare that to your typical counselor, who has spent 95% of their career doing counseling. I’ll help you get your diagnosis and treatment plan RIGHT from the start, before you begin treatment with a therapist or psychiatrist! You will not only FEEL better after our meeting but also you will get a rigorous and scientific assessment that will get you ANSWERS!
As you search for a therapist or a medication provider, consider contacting me first for evaluation. My interaction style is warm, respectful, honest, and laid back. And you will not find a more competent person to conduct your psychological evaluation.
How does the assessment work?
Prior to their assessment with Dr. Tarescavage, the evaluee will complete a brief history questionnaire and psychological testing online at their home. This testing generally includes the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-3 (MMPI-3), a widely-used and well-validated psychological test. This testing provides a comprehensive and objective foundation for a well-informed and impartial clinical interview. Prior to the appointment, evaluees are also welcome to bring relevant medical records from treatment providers.
The in-person component of the evaluation lasts approximately 1.5 hours. The interview is mostly focused on determining the root causes of the client’s problems and identifying the correct diagnosis. With this information, Dr. Tarescavage can identify the correct treatment recommendations. After the in-person evaluation is completed, Dr. Tarescavage will write a 5 to 8 page report detailing his findings and opinions. The client will receive the report within three business days of the evaluation (assuming additional records do not need to be requested). The report is intended to not only inform the client of the cause of their problems but also to provide recommendations to future treatment providers about how to proceed in counseling and/or with medication-management.
One to two weeks after receiving the report, the client will meet again with Dr. Tarescavage for a 15-30 minute (virtual) feedback session, where he will review the report, answer questions, and provide treatment recommendations.
How much does it cost?
The fee for the evaluation, including everything, is $500. We accept HSA/FSA, cash, credit, and Care Credit. If you use Care Credit, we offer 6 months no-interest if paid in full financing.
