What is a Mental Health Assessment Like?

We are warm, capable, and respectful. Our assessments are scientific, evidence-based, and comprehensive.

Is this right for me?

If you sense that something is amiss but are unsure of the cause, why it occurred, or how to address it, you are not alone. Many individuals feel the need for assistance but find it challenging
to know where to begin. Concerns about overmedication or wasting time are common, and you
may be seeking clarity on your situation and the best way to manage it. If this resonates with you, you may be our ideal client.

Do you need to know your diagnosis, the underlying factors, and potential treatment options? We
are here to help you find the answers you need. All assessments are conducted under the supervision of Dr. Tarescavage, who has dedicated 95% of his career exclusively to assessments
and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on the subject.

In contrast to typical counselors, who primarily focus on therapeutic practices, our approach
ensures you receive an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan from the outset, prior to engaging
with a therapist or psychiatrist. Following our assessment, you will not only feel better equipped
but will also receive a thorough, scientific evaluation that provides the clarity you deserve.

How does the assessment work?

Prior to your assessment, you will complete a brief history questionnaire and psychological testing online.  These will take about an hour. All of these questionnaires are completed at least 48 hours prior to the appointment.  This testing includes the NEO personality inventory, which is administered to see how your personality might be causing some of your problems. This testing provides a comprehensive and objective foundation for a well-informed and impartial clinical interview. To get personalized results out of the evaluation, you will also provide up to three questions you want answered about yourself. These questions can be about anything related to your personality, cognitive ability, or mental health!

The in-person interview component lasts approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours; however, a virtual
option is available for your convenience. This interview focuses on uncovering the root causes of
your concerns and identifying the correct diagnosis, which will inform appropriate treatment
recommendations. Following the interview, your evaluator and Dr. Tarescavage will compile a
detailed report (5 to 8 pages) outlining their findings and recommendations. You will receive this
report within 5-7 business days of the evaluation, assuming no additional records are needed.
The report is designed to clarify the underlying issues and provide guidance for future treatment
providers regarding counseling and medication management.

One to two weeks after receiving the report, you will have a 15-30 minute virtual feedback
session to review the findings, address any questions, and discuss treatment recommendations.

What is the cost?

Dr. Tarescavage’s standard fee is $250 per hour. However, by utilizing a qualified Psychology Assistant (holding a Master’s Degree) under Dr. Tarescavage’s supervision, we can offer comprehensive evaluations for a flat fee of only $450. This approach allows us to provide expert services to our community at an affordable rate. We accept HSA/FSA and credit card payments.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your appointment; the remaining balance is due 48 hours prior to the appointment.

Please consider contacting us for a comprehensive assessment that will set you on the most effective path to feeling better!

*NOTE: These evaluations are NOT for people involved in child custody or court cases.* This is indicated in the report.
