MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENT

What is a Mental Health Assessment Like?

We are warm, capable, and respectful. Our assessments are scientific, evidence-based, and comprehensive.

Is this right for me?

You know SOMETHING is wrong, but you are not sure what it is, why it happened, or how to fix it. You think you probably need help, but it’s hard to know where to start. You worry about being overmedicated or wasting your time. You want to figure out, once and for all, what is going on and how to take care of it. Does this sound familiar? If so, you are our ideal client. Need to know your diagnosis, why it happened, and how to treat it? Let us get it right for you! All assessments are overseen by Dr. Tarescavage, who has spent spent 95% of his career doing ONLY assessments and has published dozens of peer-reviewed scientific articles on assessment.

Compare that to your typical counselor, who has spent 95% of their career doing counseling. We’ll help you get your diagnosis and treatment plan RIGHT from the start, before you begin treatment with a therapist or psychiatrist! You will not only FEEL better after our meeting but also you will get a rigorous and scientific assessment that will get you ANSWERS!

As you search for a therapist or a medication provider, consider contacting us first for evaluation. You will not find more competent people to conduct your psychological evaluation!

How does the assessment work?

Prior to your assessment, you will complete a brief history questionnaire and psychological testing.  These take about 1-2 hours. All of these questionnaires are to be completed at least 48 hours prior to the appointment. This testing generally includes the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-3 (MMPI-3), a widely-used and well-validated psychological test. The NEO personality inventory is also administered to see how your personality might be causing some of your problems. This testing provides a comprehensive and objective foundation for a well-informed and impartial clinical interview. To get personalized results out of the evaluation, you will also provide up to three questions you want answered about yourself. These questions can be about anything related to your personality or mental health!

The interview component of the evaluation is conveniently completed via teleahealth and lasts approximately 1.5-2.5 hours. The interview is mostly focused on determining the root causes of your problems and identifying the correct diagnosis. With this information, we can identify the correct treatment recommendations. After the interview is completed, your evaluator and Dr. Tarescavage will write a 5 to 8 page report detailing their findings and opinions. You will receive the report within 5-7 business days of the evaluation (assuming additional records do not need to be requested). The report is intended to not only inform you of the cause of your problems but also to provide recommendations to future treatment providers about how to proceed in counseling and/or with medication-management.

One to two weeks after receiving the report, you will meet again with us for a 15-30 minute (virtual) feedback session, where we will review the report, answer questions, and provide treatment recommendations.

How much does it cost?

Dr. Tarescavage’s usual and customary fee is $250/hour (!) but by using a well-qualified Psychology Assistant (with a Master’s Degree) to complete the evaluation under Dr. Tarescavage’s supervision we are able to offer these evaluations, including everything, for a flat fee of only $350! In this way we are able to use his expertise to better the mental health of fellow members of our community at a price the average person can afford. We accept HSA/FSA and credit card. A 50 dollar fee is needed to reserve the appointment and the remaining balance is due 48 hours prior to the appointment.

Please consider reaching out to us for a comprehensive assessment that will set you on the best, fastest path to feeling better!
